About these terms
These terms govern your use of Inkwell Seal, provided by Dr Matcha Studio. They supplement the Apple Standard End User License Agreement applicable to your App Store download. If they conflict with that agreement or mandatory consumer law, those protections prevail. The studio website has separate website terms.
By using the app, you agree to these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you cannot agree, stop using the app. A parent or guardian should supervise use where required by law.
What the app does
Inkwell Seal converts text into visual seal images and reads supported images back into text. It also provides QR and barcode tools. Encoding is not encryption: a person with a readable image and compatible software may recover its contents. Integrity checks help detect damage; they do not establish the sender’s identity or the truth of a message.
The app is not a secure messenger, identity credential, electronic signature service, certificate authority or archival guarantee. It does not promise confidential transmission, access control or recovery from every damaged image.
Your license
You receive a limited, nonexclusive, nontransferable license to use the app on devices permitted by Apple’s applicable usage rules. The app is licensed, not sold. You may stop using it at any time.
Do not remove proprietary notices, circumvent access restrictions or copy, resell, sublicense, decompile or reverse engineer the app except where applicable law or an included open-source license expressly permits it. These restrictions do not take ownership of your messages or exported images.
Your content and exports
You retain your rights in text, images and other material you provide and in the content of your exports, subject to third-party rights. You are responsible for having permission to use and share that material. Creating a seal does not transfer your content to Dr Matcha Studio.
You may share your lawful seal images and messages. The app, its software, visual design, artwork, name and brand assets remain the property of Dr Matcha Studio or its licensors. No trademark license or endorsement is implied.
Responsible use
Do not use the app to distribute unlawful content, violate another person’s privacy or rights, deceive people about a message’s origin, conceal malicious instructions, impersonate others or interfere with systems. Read unfamiliar decoded links and instructions carefully before acting on them.
You are responsible for checking the content you create, the recipient and the destination you select. Keep confidential information out of seals unless you independently protect it using suitable security measures.
Readability and recovery
Image size, printing, lighting, perspective, compression, cropping and damage can prevent decoding. A successful decode should still be checked before consequential use. Keep the original text and exported file; do not rely on a seal as your only backup.
Use the original export where possible and test a received or printed copy. Do not rely on the app for emergency, safety-critical, medical, legal or other decisions where a failed or incorrect reading could cause harm.
Local storage and privacy
Creation and decoding take place on your device. Library items and preferences are stored locally. You control selected imports, camera permission, exports and sharing. Device backups and destinations you choose may keep additional copies; deleting an item in the app does not remove those copies.
Read the Inkwell Seal Privacy Policy for the app’s handling of messages, images, permissions, preferences and support. Keep independent backups before removing the app or changing devices.
Updates and compatibility
Features, supported devices and formats may change. We do not guarantee indefinite availability, backward compatibility with every future format or recovery by another product. A proposed future capability is not a promise of delivery.
If you choose to check for app updates, the app contacts Apple for public release information. Automatic checks are optional. An available update may be offered through the App Store; you decide whether to open the store and install it. App Store availability can vary by region.
Apple and other services
Apple operates the App Store and controls downloads, updates and its services. Photo libraries, device backups, file providers and sharing destinations may have their own terms and privacy practices. Dr Matcha Studio does not control those services or the copies you send to them.
These terms are between you and Dr Matcha Studio. Apple is not responsible for maintaining or supporting this app except as required by the applicable Apple agreement and law.
Price and future purchases
The first release is offered free. If optional paid features or a separately priced product are offered later, their price and applicable purchase terms will be disclosed before purchase. No subscription or payment is created by generating or reading a seal.
Support and feedback
For support, contact contact@drmatchastudio.com. Use a nonpersonal example when reporting a decoding problem and do not send confidential messages. Support availability and response times are not guaranteed.
You may choose to submit feedback. You grant Dr Matcha Studio permission to use that feedback to improve its products without payment or an obligation to implement it. This does not grant a license to unrelated private content you did not intentionally submit as feedback.
Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, the app is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation, error-free output, complete security, recovery of all content or fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Liability and consumer rights
To the extent permitted by law, Dr Matcha Studio is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, loss of profits or loss caused by unreadable exports, unavailable devices or services, unauthorized sharing or reliance on decoded content.
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the app is limited to the greater of 100 GBP and the amount you paid us for the app in the preceding 12 months. This limit does not apply where prohibited by law. Nothing excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability or remedy that cannot lawfully be limited.
Ending use
You may end use by uninstalling the app. We may end your license for a material breach of these terms, subject to applicable law. Ending use does not transfer ownership of your content or delete copies already shared or backed up. Clauses that must continue by their nature, including ownership and lawful liability limits, survive.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to mandatory protections in your country of residence. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, without limiting any right a consumer has to bring a claim in their local courts.
Changes and other provisions
Changes will be posted here with an updated date. Material changes apply only as permitted by law; any consent required by law will be requested. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
These terms and the applicable Apple license form the agreement for your use of the app, while mandatory legal rights remain unaffected. For questions about these terms, email contact@drmatchastudio.com.
