Your messages and images

Seal creation, image reading and camera scanning run on your device. The app does not send your messages, images or camera frames to Dr Matcha Studio. It contains no advertising or third-party tracking tools.

Items you save to Library are stored in the app’s local storage. You can delete saved items from Library. Your device’s backup settings may also copy app data. Deleting a Library item does not delete copies you have exported, shared or backed up.

Photos, files and camera

You choose the images and files to open. Photo selection gives the app the selected image. Camera access is requested when you choose camera scanning; frames are processed on your device. You can change camera permission in system Settings. QR Studio can use a photo you choose as a badge.

Sharing

Sharing opens the system share sheet. The destination or service you choose receives the exported file under its own policies.

A seal is not encryption: someone who has its image and Inkwell Seal may read its message.

Preferences and temporary files

The app stores local preferences such as your chosen style, guide completion, the app version whose opening film you have seen and your update-check choices. Temporary export files are kept in app-managed storage and cleaned up by the app. The app uses elapsed-time readings to limit computation; these readings are not used for tracking.

Optional update checks

You can choose “Check for updates” in Settings. Automatic checks are off by default. If you turn them on, the app checks at most once a day while it is open and active. Checks do not block seal creation or reading, download an update, or open the App Store without your choice.

An update check sends a request directly to Apple’s public App Store lookup service. The request contains Inkwell Seal’s public app identifier and a fixed United States storefront selection. Apple also receives the network connection’s IP address. The app does not include your messages, images, camera frames, Library items, Apple account, device identifier or location in this request. Apple handles the request under its own privacy policy.

Your automatic-check preference, the last check time and the version of an update notice you dismiss are stored on your device. You can turn automatic checks off in Settings at any time. You can continue using the app if a check fails or you choose to update later. Choosing “View in App Store” opens Apple’s service under Apple’s terms and privacy policy.

Support and the studio website

Questions about the app or this policy can be sent to Dr Matcha Studio at contact@drmatchastudio.com. If you email support, you choose what to include. Please use a nonpersonal example when reporting a decoding issue.

Email Dr Matcha Studio

Support correspondence and visits to the studio website are covered by the website and communications privacy policy, including its contact, retention and data-rights information. That policy describes the website and support; the app’s on-device handling is described above.
