Privacy Policy
LumenSpatial
LumenSpatial is designed as a local-first light measurement and spatial mapping tool for iPhone. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.
Who we are
Dr Matcha Studio Limited and Dr Matcha Studio (collectively, "Dr Matcha Studio," "we," "us," or "our") own and operate LumenSpatial.
Questions about this policy may be sent to legal@drmatchastudio.com.
Summary
LumenSpatial is built to process measurement and mapping data on your device by default. We do not require an account to use the app, do not run advertising, and do not sell personal data.
If we introduce optional cloud sync, collaboration, analytics, or account features in the future, we will update this policy before those changes take effect.
Scope
This policy applies to the LumenSpatial mobile application, related in-app features, exports created through the app, and support or other communications directly related to the app.
This policy does not govern third-party platforms you may use with the app, such as Apple services, file-storage providers, or sharing destinations. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.
Who controls what data
For support emails, bug reports we actually receive, and other direct communications, Dr Matcha Studio is the data controller.
For measurement sessions, scene captures, exported records, and other materials you create or handle with the app, you are responsible for ensuring you have the rights, notices, and lawful basis required for your use case, especially if the materials relate to other people, private spaces, workplaces, or regulated environments.
Information processed in the app
Depending on the features you use and your device capabilities, the app may process or store information such as:
- Light readings and derived metrics, including Lux, foot-candle, PPFD, uniformity, spread, and coverage values.
- Scene previews, measurement overlays, mapping views, and other visual data used to place readings in context.
- Device motion, orientation, and similar sensor data used for guided capture, pacing, alignment, or spatial reconstruction.
- Depth-informed, geometry, or scene-understanding data where supported by the device or operating system.
- Session metadata such as timestamps, app version, device model, measurement mode, scan settings, labels, and notes you add.
- Exports you generate, such as CSV files, archives, summaries, screenshots, or other output records.
On-device processing
By default, LumenSpatial is designed to process and store working data locally on your device. We do not need a user account to enable core measurement or mapping features.
Unless a feature explicitly states otherwise, your readings, spatial maps, session files, and generated outputs are not uploaded to Dr Matcha Studio servers.
Device permissions
LumenSpatial may request access to device capabilities only to the extent needed for app features you choose to use. Depending on the feature set and platform behavior, this may include:
- Camera access for live measurement previews, scene capture, or scene-aware mapping.
- Photos or files access so you can import, save, or export records and supporting materials.
- Motion or sensor access to support guided scanning, orientation awareness, or spatial reconstruction.
You can review and change these permissions in iOS settings.
Incidental personal data and sensitive environments
Although LumenSpatial is not designed for identity profiling, scene previews or captured materials may incidentally contain people, names, screens, documents, private property, or other personal or confidential information.
You are responsible for ensuring lawful capture and use, including any required notice, consent, workplace authorization, confidentiality controls, or other approvals. Do not use the app in a way that violates privacy, employment, security, or confidentiality obligations.
No accounts, advertising, or data sale
LumenSpatial does not require you to create an account to use its core features.
The app does not include advertising SDKs or third-party trackers for cross-app behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal data and do not share personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Diagnostics and crash reports
If you opt in through Apple platform settings to share analytics, crash reports, or diagnostics with developers, Apple may provide us with limited information such as crash logs, device type, operating system version, and technical diagnostics.
We use diagnostics we receive solely to improve reliability, compatibility, and performance. Apple processes such data under its own policies.
Support communications
If you contact us, we may receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, organization, role, screenshots, exported files, and message content.
We use this information to respond to your request, troubleshoot issues, maintain support records, and protect our rights.
Exports, sharing, and destinations you choose
When you export or share data, the export is created at your direction and sent to the destination you select, such as Files, Photos, AirDrop, email, or a third-party storage provider.
Those destinations process information under their own terms and privacy policies. You are responsible for deciding what to export, where to store it, and with whom to share it.
Third-party services and Apple platform services
Your use of the app may also involve Apple platform services and device features such as the App Store, Files, Photos, iCloud, system sharing, diagnostics, camera frameworks, or motion frameworks. Those services are controlled by Apple and subject to Apple's own policies.
If you choose to use third-party storage, communications, or collaboration services with app exports, those providers process information independently of Dr Matcha Studio.
How we use information we receive
For the limited information that does reach us directly, such as support requests or diagnostics we actually receive, we use it to:
- Provide support and respond to inquiries.
- Investigate bugs, crashes, and compatibility issues.
- Improve app reliability, quality, and security.
- Protect against misuse, abuse, fraud, or legal claims.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
Legal bases for processing
Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we process personal information we actually receive on the following bases, as applicable:
- Contractual necessity, including providing support or app-related services you request.
- Legitimate interests, including improving security, stability, and product quality, and protecting our rights.
- Consent, where we rely on optional permissions or optional diagnostics.
- Legal obligations, where we must retain or disclose information by law.
Retention and deletion
Locally stored app data generally remains on your device until you delete it, remove the files, or uninstall the app, subject to backups or storage systems you control.
Support emails, diagnostics we receive, and legal/compliance records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to handle the issue, maintain records, resolve disputes, or comply with law.
Security
We rely substantially on platform-level protections such as app sandboxing, file permissions, operating-system security controls, and device-level encryption where supported.
No device, service, or transmission method is perfectly secure. You are responsible for securing your device, backups, export destinations, and any data you choose to share.
International transfers
We do not need to receive your core measurement sessions or spatial maps for normal app use. If you contact us, however, the information you send may be processed in jurisdictions outside your own, including the United Kingdom and countries where our service providers operate.
Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers of information we control.
Your rights and choices
Because the app is designed to operate locally by default, many privacy choices can be exercised directly on your device by changing permissions, deleting sessions, removing exports, or uninstalling the app.
Where applicable law gives you rights over information we control, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, or request portability of personal information we hold, subject to legal limitations.
UK/EEA rights
If you are in the UK or EEA, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, including the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK, and to exercise rights available under applicable data protection law.
U.S. state privacy rights
If you are a resident of a U.S. state with applicable privacy laws, you may have rights such as the right to know, access, delete, or correct personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of certain processing. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Children
LumenSpatial is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us directly, contact us and we will address the issue.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, legal requirements, or our practices. We will post the updated version and revise the effective date.
If we materially change how information is handled, we will update this policy before the change takes effect.
