Privacy Policy

Project iScope

Project iScope is built for live camera capture, microscopy, thermal imaging, connected imaging devices, and AI-assisted analysis. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the app.

Effective date: May 14, 2026

Summary

Project iScope is designed as a local-first imaging workspace. Core capture, preview, recording, measurement, segmentation, and AI-assisted analysis features are intended to run on your device by default. We do not require an account for core app use, do not run advertising, and do not sell personal information.

If we add optional cloud sync, collaboration, account, hosted AI, remote device, or analytics features in the future, we will update this policy before those features materially change how information is collected or processed.

Who we are

Dr Matcha Studio Limited and Dr Matcha Studio (collectively, "Dr Matcha Studio," "we," "us," or "our") own and operate Project iScope.

Questions about this policy may be sent to legal@drmatchastudio.com.

Scope

This policy applies to the Project iScope application, related app features, local projects, captures, exports, support communications, beta testing communications, and other app-related interactions with Dr Matcha Studio.

This policy does not govern third-party platforms, hardware vendors, camera manufacturers, storage providers, sharing destinations, or operating-system services that you choose to use with the app.

Who controls what data

Dr Matcha Studio is the controller for information we actually receive from you, such as support emails, beta feedback, crash diagnostics made available through platform settings, and other direct communications.

For images, videos, thermal frames, microscope captures, project files, measurements, AI outputs, annotations, exports, and other materials you create or process locally, you are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights, notices, permissions, and lawful basis required for your use case.

Information processed in the app

Depending on the features you use and the devices connected, Project iScope may process or store information such as:

  • Live camera previews, still images, video recordings, microscope imagery, thermal frames, and other imaging streams.
  • Depth, LiDAR, orientation, motion, focus, exposure, calibration, lens, sensor, and capture-session metadata.
  • Connected-device metadata such as device type, camera mode, firmware information, serial or hardware identifiers exposed by a device, and connection status.
  • AI-assisted outputs, including segmentation masks, object regions, measurements, labels, confidence values, overlays, model settings, and refinement edits.
  • Project names, notes, tags, timestamps, workflow settings, presets, export settings, and files you import or create.
  • Exports generated at your direction, including images, videos, reports, tables, archives, screenshots, or other output records.

On-device processing

Unless a feature clearly states otherwise, Project iScope is designed to process and store working imaging data locally on your device. Core app use does not require uploading your captures, connected-camera streams, segmentations, or measurements to Dr Matcha Studio servers.

Data stored on your device may also be included in backups, sync systems, file locations, or storage destinations that you control through your operating system or third-party services.

AI-assisted features

The app may use AI-assisted tools for tasks such as segmentation, measurement support, region detection, image enhancement, workflow suggestions, and related analysis. These features are intended to assist human review, not replace professional judgment.

By default, AI-assisted processing is intended to stay close to the image source on your device. If we later introduce optional hosted AI processing, we will describe what is sent, why it is sent, and how it is handled before that feature is used.

Device permissions

Project iScope may request access to device capabilities only as needed for features you choose to use. Depending on platform, release, and hardware support, this may include:

  • Camera access for live preview, still capture, video recording, and image analysis.
  • Microphone access if you choose a recording mode that includes audio.
  • Photos, Files, or removable storage access for importing, saving, organizing, and exporting projects.
  • Bluetooth, USB, local network, or accessory access for compatible external cameras, microscope cameras, thermal cameras, capture devices, or related hardware.
  • Motion, orientation, depth, LiDAR, and sensor access for guided capture, alignment, measurement, or spatial context.

You can review and change platform permissions in your device settings.

Connected cameras and accessories

When you connect a USB camera, microscope camera, thermal camera, capture card, or other accessory, the app may process streams and metadata made available by that device or its driver, SDK, firmware, or platform framework.

Hardware vendors, drivers, companion apps, cloud services, or firmware update tools may process information independently under their own terms and privacy policies. Dr Matcha Studio does not control those third-party practices.

Incidental personal and sensitive information

Project iScope is an imaging tool. Images, videos, audio, metadata, labels, or support materials may incidentally contain people, faces, voices, locations, documents, screens, specimens, health-related information, proprietary work, confidential research, or other sensitive content.

You are responsible for lawful capture, processing, storage, export, and disclosure, including any required notice, consent, workplace authorization, patient or research-subject safeguards, institutional review, confidentiality controls, or other approvals.

No accounts, ads, or data sale

Project iScope does not require a Dr Matcha Studio account for core app use.

The app does not include advertising SDKs or third-party trackers for cross-app behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Diagnostics and crash reports

If you opt in through Apple or other platform settings to share analytics, crash reports, or diagnostics with developers, the platform may provide us with limited technical information such as crash logs, device type, operating-system version, app version, and performance diagnostics.

We use diagnostics we receive only to improve reliability, compatibility, performance, and security. Platform providers process diagnostic data under their own policies.

Support and beta communications

If you contact us, join a beta, report a bug, request support, or send feedback, we may receive information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, organization, role, device details, logs, screenshots, sample files, exports, and message content.

Do not send personal, health, confidential, export-controlled, or proprietary materials to support unless they are necessary and you have authority to share them.

Exports and sharing

When you export or share data, the app creates outputs at your direction and sends them to the destination you select, such as Files, Photos, AirDrop, email, cloud storage, messaging, removable storage, or another app.

Those destinations process information under their own terms and privacy policies. You are responsible for deciding what to export, where to store it, and with whom to share it.

How we use information we receive

For the limited information that reaches us directly, such as support requests, beta feedback, or diagnostics we actually receive, we use it to:

  • Provide support and respond to inquiries.
  • Investigate bugs, crashes, compatibility issues, and security concerns.
  • Improve app reliability, quality, accessibility, and performance.
  • Understand requested features and prioritize product development.
  • Protect against misuse, abuse, fraud, legal claims, or security incidents.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Legal bases for processing

Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we process personal information we actually receive on the following bases, as applicable:

  • Contractual necessity, including providing support or app-related services you request.
  • Legitimate interests, including improving security, stability, compatibility, and product quality, and protecting our rights.
  • Consent, where we rely on optional permissions, beta participation, or optional diagnostics.
  • Legal obligations, where we must retain, disclose, or process information by law.

Retention and deletion

Locally stored app data generally remains on your device until you delete it, remove the related files, change storage settings, or uninstall the app, subject to backups, removable media, and storage systems you control.

Support emails, beta records, diagnostics we receive, and legal or compliance records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to handle the issue, maintain records, resolve disputes, improve the app, protect rights, or comply with law.

Security

We rely substantially on platform-level protections such as app sandboxing, file permissions, operating-system security controls, and device-level encryption where supported. The app is designed to minimize unnecessary transmission of imaging data to Dr Matcha Studio.

No device, accessory, service, storage medium, or transmission method is perfectly secure. You are responsible for securing your device, cameras, accessories, backups, export destinations, removable storage, and any data you choose to share.

International transfers

We do not need to receive your core local imaging sessions for normal app use. If you contact us or participate in beta support, however, the information you send may be processed in jurisdictions outside your own, including the United Kingdom and countries where our service providers operate.

Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers of information we control.

Your rights and choices

Because Project iScope is designed to operate locally by default, many privacy choices can be exercised directly on your device by changing permissions, deleting projects, deleting captures, removing exports, controlling backups, disconnecting accessories, or uninstalling the app.

Where applicable law gives you rights over information we control, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, withdraw consent, or request portability of personal information we hold, subject to legal limitations.

UK/EEA rights

If you are in the UK or EEA, you may have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, including the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK, and to exercise rights available under applicable data protection law.

U.S. state privacy rights

If you are a resident of a U.S. state with applicable privacy laws, you may have rights such as the right to know, access, delete, or correct personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of certain processing. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Children

Project iScope is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us directly, contact us and we will address the issue.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, connected-device support, AI features, legal requirements, or our practices. We will post the updated version and revise the effective date.

If we materially change how information is collected, uploaded, shared, or used, we will update this policy before the change takes effect where required by law or platform rules.
